LEARN TO PLAY TAG RUGBY WITH CORK TAG RUGBY

Tag rugby offers an exciting entry point into the world of non contact rugby, combining the thrill of the game with a more accessible format. Whether you’re entirely new to the sport or transitioning from other athletic pursuits, learning to play tag rugby can be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Cork Tag Rugby’s Learn To Play Tag Rugby Program aims to provide beginners with the foundational knowledge and essential steps to start playing tag rugby confidently.

Tag rugby focuses on teamwork, agility, and strategic thinking. Instead of tackling opponents, players aim to remove a tag attached to their opponent’s waist. Understanding the basic rules of tag rugby is fundamental. The game revolves around passing the ball backwards and avoiding having your tag removed by the opposing team. When a tag is removed, the player must roll the ball. Scores are made by crossing the opposing team’s try line.

Mastering certain skills is crucial in tag rugby. Agility, quick footwork, effective passing, and strategic positioning are key. Practicing evasion techniques, such as changing direction swiftly, can greatly enhance your gameplay. Additionally, honing passing accuracy and timing will contribute significantly to your team’s performance. All these skills will be taught over the duration of the program by Cork Tag Rugby’s experienced coaches. These fun & friendly sessions will be 45 minutes in duration allowing players to put what you have learned in to practice each week.
