This year we raised a fantastic €1900 for Football For All in our Annual Christmas Blitz. Thank you to everyone for their support and for a thoroughly enjoyable day.

With the weather threatening on Saturday 30th December, 11 battle hardened teams graced the turf at Carrigaline United. What a day of action we were in for. With each game 15 minutes in duration and teams playing 4 rounds of games, the top two in each group would qualify for the semi finals. Teams played hard but fair with some well known personalities playing.

The defending champions Dirty Hookers were narrowly beaten in their semi final by our Late Summer blitz champions Dirty Rotten Taggers. With an eclectic mix of experience and youth, Dirty Rotten Taggers prevailed by 1 point. In the second semi final, Surprise Surprise got the better of Fat & The Furious by 1 point. Played at a furious intensity, Surprise Surprise took the lead with four minutes on the clock. The Fat & The Furious bombarded the Surprise Surprise line which repelled the onslaught to win narrowly. This setup the final between Dirty Rotten Taggers and Surprise Surprise where the devastating attack of Dirty Rotten Taggers dismantled the Surprise Surprise defence leading to a well deserved 4 – 2 victory.

The Tag Rugby community and Football For All won out today. Another great day and a special thank you to the volunteers at Football For All who were incredibly accommodating throughout. The work of these parents is so under appreciated and we look forward to coming back each year as what is now an annual fixture in our calendar.

Christmas Social Tag Rugby Charity Blitz 2016

Cork Tag Rugby’s Christmas Social Tag Rugby Charity Blitz 2016 took place on the 27th December in Carrigaline Soccer Club. Yet again we had an exceptional turnout and a thoroughly enjoyable day. All proceeds from the day will go directly to local Carrigaline Charity Football For All. Well done to all teams for making the day a joy to run. We really hope you enjoyed the day.

All games were played in a fun and social manner. There were some really exciting games throughout the day. There were some old rivalries which were re-ignited and some new rivalries initiated but all played in good sporting spirit.

As we reached the knock out stages, the stakes were raised significantly. In the Cup Semi Finals, Dirty Hookers were looking to retain the cup they won last year, with Balls Deep and The Fat & The Furious pushing hard to taking their crown off them. In the Semi Final, Fat & The Furious secured victory over Balls Deep with a golden try, fully deserving their position in the final. In the other semi final, Ireland’s Maul were unable to overcome a resurgent Dirty Hookers. In the Bowl Semi Finals, The Hungover Games had a great victory over Hollies Team. Hollies Team rolled out all the stops bringing in experienced referee Kline into the mix, However they came up just a little short. In the second Bowl Semi Final, the new kids on the block Tagged Without The Ball took on the seasoned No Woman No Try. Experience won out in the end setting up a Bowl Final between The Hungover Games and No Woman No Try.

The Bowl Final was an incredibly tight affair with the experienced No Woman No Try winning out by the slimmest of margins. In the Cup Final, we had Irish International vs Irish International when Dirty Hookers lined out against The Fat & The Furious. In the end, Dirty Hookers demonstrated their class with a great victory.

We take a break until the beginning of 2017 where we will be back in Carrigaline for our new league commencing Wednesday 11th January. This is a 10 week league and runs until mid March. We also have our 6 week league kicking off in Cork Harlequins on Monday the 23rd January 2017. Thereafter, we will be in Highfield RFC at the beginning of April where our hugely popular Spring League kicks off on grass. If you want further information CLICK HERE.
