This year we raised a fantastic €1900 for Football For All in our Annual Christmas Blitz. Thank you to everyone for their support and for a thoroughly enjoyable day.
With the weather threatening on Saturday 30th December, 11 battle hardened teams graced the turf at Carrigaline United. What a day of action we were in for. With each game 15 minutes in duration and teams playing 4 rounds of games, the top two in each group would qualify for the semi finals. Teams played hard but fair with some well known personalities playing.
Football For All Blitz Presentation in Carriagline with Cork Tag Rugby
The defending champions Dirty Hookers were narrowly beaten in their semi final by our Late Summer blitz champions Dirty Rotten Taggers. With an eclectic mix of experience and youth, Dirty Rotten Taggers prevailed by 1 point. In the second semi final, Surprise Surprise got the better of Fat & The Furious by 1 point. Played at a furious intensity, Surprise Surprise took the lead with four minutes on the clock. The Fat & The Furious bombarded the Surprise Surprise line which repelled the onslaught to win narrowly. This setup the final between Dirty Rotten Taggers and Surprise Surprise where the devastating attack of Dirty Rotten Taggers dismantled the Surprise Surprise defence leading to a well deserved 4 – 2 victory.
The Tag Rugby community and Football For All won out today. Another great day and a special thank you to the volunteers at Football For All who were incredibly accommodating throughout. The work of these parents is so under appreciated and we look forward to coming back each year as what is now an annual fixture in our calendar.
