SUMMER 2024 – A Season of Fun and Fierce Competition!

This summer, Cork Constitution FC was the place to be for Cork Tag rugby enthusiasts as players of all ages and abilities gathered for an unforgettable season of social tag rugby! The vibrant summer evenings were filled with the sound of laughter, fast-paced action, and friendly banter as teams competed in a fun yet competitive atmosphere over the Spring & Summer months.

The Vibe: More Than Just Rugby

Tag rugby at Cork Con is more than just a game – it’s a social hub that brings people together. Whether you’re an experienced player or completely new to the sport, social tag rugby here is all about inclusion, enjoyment, and building community. The mixed-gender teams added to the fun and inclusive spirit of the league, with many players highlighting the positive, supportive environment that makes Cork Tag Rugby events such a special place to play.

The leagues comprised of teams made up of corporate work colleagues, groups of friends and individuals battle it out over the summer months. Each week brought high energy matches played with great sportsmanship. It was great to see the progression of beginner teams and individuals throughout the league and  regardless of the weather, the benches outside the clubhouse bar were full each evening with friends, families & work colleagues gathering around for their weekly catch up over a post-match drink.

Highlights of the Season
  • Sell out leagues: Cork Tag Rugby’s social leagues are extremely popular and 2024 saw a further increase in players & teams wanting to sign up. This increase saw the league expanding to 2 nights in Cork Con with over 700 people each week visiting the temple hill destination.
  • Friday Night Lights: Over the Summer Season, Cork Tag Rugby hosted 2 successful Friday Night Lights Blitz’s, one of which was for Charity & raised a massive €5680 for Breakthrough Cancer Research.  The Friday Night Lights Blitz is a great way for players to mingle, play tag rugby and continue the party long into the night.
  • Learn To Play Tag Rugby: As well as running social leagues in Cork Con, we also hosted a Spring Learn To Play Tag Rugby Programme. This 4-week programme encourages individuals into the sport by providing training in the basic skills and laws of the game before signing up to the leagues.
Looking Ahead

With such a successful summer behind us, we’re already looking forward to next year’s tag rugby season at Cork Con. Whether you want to improve your skills, make new friends, or simply enjoy a great workout, this is the perfect way to spend your summer evenings.
